Illinois Photographic Collection
Title
Illinois Photographic Collection
Description
The Illinois Photographic Collection contains images from the more than 400,000 photographs and 5,000 broadsides held in the audiovisual collection of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library. The images represent aspects of the social, cultural, educational, economic, political, and military experience in Illinois during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Types of photographic technology in the collection include daguerreotype (the earliest commercial photographic process), ambrotype, tintype, glass negatives, albumen prints, sterograph, safety, and polyester film. Due to the varying age, condition, and format of the original photographs and broadsides, the digitized versions vary in image quality and size.
