Richard Yates, I deem the following to be due to you: As soon as I had returned to this city in March last, I paid off a balance of $319.52 due on The Press on which “The Post” newspaper is worked. Shortly after, I was attacked by a fever with typhoid symptoms – the third attack within four months – and acting with advice of my physician I determined to quit the establishment. I had been engaged in it fourteen months. My proposition to Mr. Sheehan was, to take $800 for my service (I was an equal partner with Sheehan & Mottison) during and for the time of my <hr /> connection with it, and give to them freely and without pecuniary consideration my entire interest in The Press and every other item and species of property.
